Greetings Highland Club Members and Community,
My name is Andrew Parsons, and I have the honor of serving as the President of The Highland Club. I’m excited to share my first letter with you on our new website, where I plan to provide quarterly updates on what’s happening at The Highland Club.
Serving in this role for the past two and a half years has been both a privilege and a rewarding experience. Since being elected, my primary goals have been to improve financial accountability, foster a positive and supportive leadership team, hire the best vendors’ at the most competitive prices, enhance the cleanliness of our clubhouse, and grow our membership. I’m happy to report that we have made great strides in all these areas.
We now have three executive board members overseeing all financial transactions to ensure transparency and accountability. Our executive committee remains dedicated to maintaining a safe and inclusive space for our recovery community. By carefully evaluating our vendors, we’ve been able to secure better services at reduced costs. Additionally, thanks to the hard work of our members and community, we’ve completed several interior and exterior improvement projects. Most excitingly, we have doubled our membership!
But we can’t stop here! I encourage each of you to invite others to join us on this journey of recovery by becoming members of The Highland Club. Looking ahead, we have several exciting projects planned, including sealing and re-striping the parking lot, and building a covered three-bay handicap parking lot area with a sitting area located at the back of the building. Also, we hope to eventually update our HVAC system and replace windows with energy efficient units.
It says in our Big Book, “it is an experience you must not miss.” Well, these past two and half years have been an experience! I hope you will come and enjoy the experience at The Highland Club and become a part of our organization where sobriety and fun go hand and hand.
Andrew Parsons (President)
