The Highlands Club's President's Letter

Jamie Burchett (Board President)

  July 1, 2025

Greetings fellow Highland Club members and community!

My name is Jamie Burchett and I have the honor of being elected to serve as your next club president!

I want to thank Andrew Parsons for his service as President before me! Thank you also to the current executive board members for their service. Their successful efforts to provide financial transparency, grow our membership and improve the facility will make my job as incoming president easy… all I must do is not “break” the current procedures and follow through with the building and facilities improvement projects currently in progress.

Also, my thanks to the membership for electing me to serve as President. I am honored by your trust in me and will serve the Club to the best of my ability.

For those who do not know me:

I got sober at the Highland Club on August 10th,1994 and have been a member of the club from then until now.

I have a great love and respect for our club as it literally helped to save my life, allowing me to have a successful business career in the electric motor repair industry where I served in electrical engineering consultant, sales, and management roles.

I am now retired from my career and can focus on my duties as Club president.

After I get settled into my new role, I will provide quarterly updates on the Club’s well-being and progress on our improvement projects.

We do have two on-going improvement projects now:

The covered parking near the handicap door is basically ready to implement, with materials already purchased and we expect to begin construction in the fall after the summer heat wave.

The Volleyball court project is about at the halfway point with the ground being graded in preparation for sand. The remaining things to be done on this project is to implement drainage measures so that the sand does not hold water after a rain or wash out resulting in loss of sand.

We do have several members of the executive board who have fulfilled their term and will be stepping down.

New members will be selected in the traditional manner: Nominated by the club president and then subject to approval by the rest of the existing board. I anticipate having the board members finalized after our next regular board meeting on the last Tuesday of July.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions.

Regards,

Jamie Burchett - President
